K12Launch

    Educator App

    COPPA Statement

    Effective Date: August 16, 2026

Student records are anonymized within the platform using a unique student code created by the child's tutor. A tutor may enter the student's name, optional email, parent/guardian contact details, location, tutor name, and structured literacy assessment data solely to record reading progress and generate reports for the tutor and designated parent or guardian.

    1. Purpose of This Statement

This statement explains how K12Launch LLC ("we," "us," "our") handles information about children in the Educator App, and how we support tutors and parents in meeting the requirements of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"). It supplements our Terms of Service.

    2. Who Uses the Educator App

The Educator App is a professional tool for reading tutors and educators. Accounts are created and used by adults. We do not market the Service to children, and children do not create accounts, log in, or submit information to us directly.

    3. Information About Students

A tutor may enter the following student-related information in order to record and report reading progress:

This information is entered by the tutor, not by the child. We use it only to provide the Service: recording assessments, generating progress reports, and sharing those reports with the tutor and the parent or guardian the tutor designates.

    4. Parental Consent

Where a student is under 13, the tutor (or the school or tutoring organization the tutor works with) is responsible for obtaining verifiable parental or guardian consent before entering that student's personal information into the Service. We provide the Service to tutors on the condition that this consent has been obtained. Tutors agree to this responsibility in our Terms of Service.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13. If we learn that a child has provided information to us directly, we will delete it.

    5. No Advertising, No Sale of Data

    6. Parent and Guardian Rights

A parent or guardian may, at any time:

Because tutors control their own student records, please contact your child's tutor first — they can update or delete a student record directly. You may also contact us at k12launch@gmail.com and we will work with the tutor to honor the request.

    7. Access Controls and Security

Student records are private to the tutor who created them. The Service uses encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), authenticated access with secure session management, and database-level access rules so that a tutor can only see their own students. Administrative access is limited to K12Launch personnel who need it to support the Service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

    8. Data Retention

We keep student information for as long as the tutor's account remains active and the tutor keeps the record, or until deletion is requested. When a record is deleted by the tutor or at a parent's request, it is removed from the active Service.

    9. Changes to This Statement

We may update this statement. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Material changes affecting how student information is handled will be communicated to account holders.
